Hi Sourdoughmike
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would you provide a bit more information as context to your request? How do you know that trojan.viknokis the issue? What has altered you to this potential threat?
If you are running WSA have you run a scan? If so what was the result?
More information please!
Regards
Baldrick

Hi Sourdoughmike
Assuming that you do indeed have trojan.viknok on your system, the removal is not a piece of cake given that you will most likely need to reboot the computer in safe mode with networking, etc.
For that reason, I would immediately Open A Support Ticket so that the Support Team can investigate and deal with the issue for you. Best to leave this one to the Professionals.

Mike,
viknok appears to be a trojan that is very serious.
If you have run a manual scan as Baldrick advised and it is still there, I suggest that you submit a support ticket.

Thanks for the reply. Running Win7 and MSE as my virus protection. Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) located and identified the trojan.viknok on my system. This unit that is infected is my home desktop. (I have Webroot on my laptop that I bought at Best Buy) So I thought I might install it on my desktop if it was capable of removing the threat. My problem is that I can't start the computer in safe mode (with any option). The computer will not finish the boot. It stops after the windows logo and the dreaded blank screen appears and stays. The only way I can restart the computer is to hit F8 after power on and use the windows repair tools. I have to choose the option restore trom a previous known date. I can choose a date from about a week ago and let is restore. I can then hit resart when prompted and it will reboot and finish starting. I have tried a couple of other malware programs and either in the download process or in the middle of a scan I will get an error message that the program has to be closed and the system restarted. If it is a forced resart it goes back to the blank screen after the restart. Even MSE won't remove it because it requires a restart to finish the process. So I am a little bit confused on how to get rid of this darn malware. Hope this helps explain my dilema a little better. Mike
Hi Sourdoughmike
Given what you say I really, strongly recommend that you Open a Support Ticket and see if the Support Team will assist you. You are a WSA user, albeit not on the infected computer, so I am sure it is worth asking for help.
I suppose that you do not have an image of the system, and if so, then if it was taken before the infection occurred? IF so then that would be your best bet even if it means you losing some data that was recorded post the image.
Apologies for not being able to help more but this one is really for the Professionals IMHO.
