Hi

I an very new to this forum and obly installed Webroot SA Complete yesterday.
I understand that Webroot has a Firewall to monitor outgoing data, and that Windows Firewall is used for Incoming data.

I have just run Shields up to check the ports on my Windoes 7 PC, and the following ports are not 'stealth'
They are 'closed' - which means that Shields view could see them but could not send data via them.

The ports were:
25  SMTP
137 Netbios - ns
138 Netbios - dgm

All other ports could not been seen by Shields Up.

Is the above OK ?
Is there any danger to m PC ?

Thank you all
Very much appreciated haht you are kind enough to look at issues like this !

Hello @ and welcome to the Webroot Community!

First of all, do you have a router or a modem in your network?
A router has a hardware firewall integrated so this device will be responsible of blocking attempts from outside your network  (internet). If you have a router in place (and it's properly configured) then the port scan won't even reach your PC.

To the state of your ports: If they're closed then your not in danger. Both closed and stealth mean that no one can access a service behind this port. The difference is that in "stealth" state your firewall doesn't respond to the scan and hides your existence.

Thank you for replying Regnor

I have braoadband cable attached to a cable modem, which in turn is connected to a Netgear router.
Then I have two PCs connected to the Router.

Your comments have made me feel safe.
Thank you very much for your assistance.

Regnor is absolutely correct and WSA's Firewall is only outbound and you need to have Windows Firewall on as well to have full inbound and outbound protection so it's a second layer per say as your Router is doing the main firewall job! Have a look here about WSA's Firewall and Windows Firewall: http://www.webroot.com/En_US/SecureAnywhere/PC/WSA_PC_Help.htm#C4_Firewall/CH4a_ManagingFirewall.htm

Thanks,

Daniel 😉
