Just purchases, installed; but Web Root "quit unexpectedly" / crashes within 30 seconds of starting scan after taking about 3 minutes to "prepare" for scan.

Have MAC Book (older) OS 10.7.5.

Have tried disabling other antivirus software--same problem "quit unexpectedly"

Know MAC Book is Safari has Outbrain.com infection and want to remove; hence, purchases Web Root to detect/remove; but no success.

Scan runs about 21s (in "View" window)

Any advice would be helpful.

Sorry to hear about this issue that you are experiencing

 

Traffic.outbrain.com is what’s known as a “rogue antivirus” tool, which has been designed with the sole intention of trying to scam you into buying false products online. This is essentially a virus which will install itself on your PC, and then proceed to heckle you into purchasing the full version of the software. This virus is extremely annoying.

 

For this threat my best advice is to submit a Support Ticket which is free of charge with an active subscription
