Seeking some information from fellow users. ;)
Have been checking out the Web Threat Shield add-ons (subject of some other threads here) in each of the main browsers.
IE & FF are fine...running the version of the Threat Shield that I would expect. However, in the case of Chrome I still only have the PM add-on and NO Web Threat Filtering add-on. :S
It then dawned on me that I am running the Portable (PortableApps.com) version rather than the official installer version...and I am wondering why, as a result , the Password Manager addon is able to install...but NOT the Filtering one? :@
Just wondering if anyone else is using Chrome Portable and if they can corroborate my findings?
Many thanks in anticipation.
Regards
Baldrick

I like how all your screenshots are in Russian. It adds flavor to our community 🙂
Thanks, Petrovic...that is very interesting as with mine I have had to find the appropriate .crx file and then drag and drop it into Chrome to get the extension to install.
I am wondering why the PM installs properly, i.e., automatically, whilst the Web Threat Shield needs manual intervention...in my case but not in yours?
Perhaps one for the development team?

Filtering extension installed "dragging" (shown in the screenshot)
I think installing Filtering extension "manually" is not critical
Thank you
I still see it being an issue as it should install without any interaction from the user only to allow install of both Extensions as most users should not be in the WRData Folder at all that's why it's hidden so I will ping @ to see if he can shed more light on this!
Thanks,

Thanks, Daniel...that was exactly the point of my opening this thread...as I agree with the 'it should install automatically...' & the reaspns as to why.
Cheers, Baldrick :D

This problem Portable version. When you install the regular version of Chrome installed both extensions(automatically)
When installing Portable version is no "full integration into the system" chrome unlike the regular version chrome, respectively, the above problems are possible.

Indeed...but woindering why one extension installs regardless of whether portable or not and not the other...that is the question!
A funny thing happened after reading this and similiar threads about using a "drag & drop" solution. Just for *bleeps* and giggles, I decided to find the aforementioned .crx file and check out it's properties.
Well, apparently (at least on my system) it "thinks" it is a DWG TrueView Core Extension [For anyone not into drafting, it's part of AutoCAD ]. After some further digging I noticed that ALL of the .crx files were associated that way.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jeff

It looks like there is a file extension conflict... two programs think they both should own all files with that.
Explore you C drive, and navigate to that file in question.
Right click on the file and choose Open With. You might need to press and hold SHIFT while doing the right click. Then select the browser exe file. There should be an option to always use this program to open files of that type... you might not want to do that.
See if that helps get the data into the browser

LOL... Thanks David. I was afraid I'd have to do that. I have around 70 .crx files (luckily only 20 of them apply to Chrome!)
