Can I renew(update) my Webroot SecureAnywhere online without having to order it and actually installing it with a disc?

Hello Kathy, welcome to the Webroot Commumity.
Yes you can.  If you renew the existing key code will automatically update witj the new expration date: no need for you to do anything at all.

If you purchase a new key code instead of renewing the existing one, you can simple add the new one to your existing Account Console amd then put it into your current install by clickng on My Account.

Where do I go to renew and have it renew(update) for me once I pay? I tried renewing and  it asked for my address to send it to.

Hi Kathy

If you click on the cog/gear symbol to the right of the My Account tab in the main WSA panel, that should open up a further panel tab entitled 'Keycode'.  If yo look at the bottom of that you will see an Upgrade/Renew button.  Clicking on that should sort you out.

Will I be notified by email that it has been renewal/updated so that I know it's done and does it take effect right away?
Also, I think I have a virus which I need taken care of ASAP!  Once it's updated, can I just do a scan to get rid of it?

Hi Kathy

Renewal is usually pretty quick...I have usually seen the number of days remaining on the subscription increase to the + 1 year value, i.e., what was left on the keycode at renewal + 365 days, within half an hour...but it could be quicker.

Quick question though; has your subscription actually expired or is it just in the 30 day countdown period to expiry.  If the latter then WSA should work normally and you should be able to scan as per usual.

Hi Kathy

If it has only just expired then I think that should not be a problem...renewal should proceed normally.  It is only problematical if the expiration is over 30 days old, if memory serves.

You should get a "Welcome Back, Thanks for sticking with Webroot" message fairly soon after the transaction has completed.

I don't see where to check when it expired. it just says expired. I have a feeling it's been quite awhile since it expired.

Hi KAthy

What should happen is that within 30 days of expiry the colour of the main WSA panel should change to a shade of...well not sure really...probably call it orange and you should have been getting tray notification popups warning you of pending expiry, etc.

You are posting in the WSA Complete forum so I assume that this is the version you currently have as expired?  If so then I would renew, get you new keycode and then Open a Support Ticket detailing the old keycode, new keycode, and asking Support to transfer any passwords and/or other settings from the old keycode to the new one.  Alternatively, you could ask them to take the days from the new keycode and add them to the old keycode, to effectively let you continue using the current, exppired code without the need to transfer any information.

That presupposes that you have not exceeded the expiry grace period, that I mentioned before, which I believe is 30 days (but perhaps one of the Mods of Community Admin would confirm that).

Eitherway I would renew and then open that Support Ticket, as it looks like you will need assistance due to the expired nature of your current keycode.
