I bought a webroot SecureAnywhere Internet Security Plus 2013 in December of last year. Today i received a warning that my webroot secureanywhere subscription is expired. How can that be? I thought it should at least last for a year.

You might want to Submit a Trouble Ticket so that support can take a look at your account and see what is going on with that keycode.  I do wonder where you purchased it: if you purchased it at Best Buy and it is a Best Buy Subscription Software version, you will want to contact them to have the account checked at that end as well.
