A "meter-like" 1 inch in size appears on my desktop. Looks like a bubble scale on a level [Blue]. When the, whatever it is, is on the desktop, I can't search or shut down my computer. What is it? I've been scanning my computer and nothing is found.

Not come across that one before. Would you be able to upload a screenshot to a file sharing site and then proivide us with the link (you cannot yet, due to your newness as a member, post images in posts here). We should then have a better idea as to what you are seeing.
