Blank threat detected and no record of threat

Immediately after start-up, Webroot detected a threat with no name (just a blank field). Webroot said that it had just performed a scan five minutes ago, but I'm fairly certain the computer was off and not asleep and couldn't have done so. I told Webroot to remove the threat, but it immediately froze on "queuing" the threat. I could not perform scans, however the menu was not frozen. I restarted the computer, but no threat was detected on start-up. I ran a scan of the computer and no threats were detected. There is no log of a scan today other than the one I just performed and there are zero records of any threats detected. Was this a start-up bug, or is there some sneaky malware I should be worried about?

Hi fox427

Welcome to the Community Forums.

That is an interesting case you have there, and I think that the best thing to do is to undertake an uninstall/clean install of WSA. It is quick and easy and if you would like to do so then please follow these instructions:

  • Make sure you have a copy of your Keycode
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and DO NOT import any settings if so offerred by the installer; you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
Then check out the circumstances of the issue and see if it reappears. If this fails to resolve the problem, you may need to contact Support for assistance.

If your subscription is directly through Webroot, you will need to contact Webroot Support.  You can do so by submitting a Support Ticket if you have not already done so, or by phone during business hours.  (The online Ticketing system is manned 24/7)

If your subscription is through Best Buy Subscription Software services, you may need to call them at 1-800-GEEK-SQUAD.
