Can't unistall SecureAnywhere from Mac OSX

Hi - same problem ... can't get rid of it and it sticks to my desktop and won't move - close - or delete.  I've managed to shut down the process but ....it....keeps...coming....back.  Is there a fix?  thanks for any help anyone can extend,

Sorry to hear you are having difficultites. Can you reboot your Mac? Then please try to follow these instructions below.
 
 
To uninstall Webroot SecureAnywhere, follow the instructions below.

1. Shut down SecureAnywhere by clicking the Webroot icon [img]http://sw.nohold.net/Webroot/Images/wsa_icon.png[/img] in the menu bar and selecting Shut Down SecureAnywhere. [img]http://sw.nohold.net/Webroot/Images/macwebrootmenushutdown.png[/img] If prompted, confirm that you want to shut down SecureAnywhere.
2. Open the Finder by clicking the Finder icon [img]http://sw.nohold.net/Webroot/Images/mac_finder_icon.png[/img] in the dock.
3. Open the Applications directory. [img]http://sw.nohold.net/Webroot/Images/mac_click_applications.png[/img]
4. Click and drag the Webroot SecureAnywhere program icon into the Trash [img]http://sw.nohold.net/Webroot/Images/mac_trash_icon.png[/img] in the dock. A confirming window appears. Click Uninstall. [img]http://sw.nohold.net/Webroot/Images/macuninstallwsa.png[/img] Webroot SecureAnywhere is now uninstalled. There is no need to restart your computer.

If this doesn't work then please go into Safe Mode and uninstall Webroot from there. If you still have problems then Contact Suppot free of charge with an active subscription.

Hi, I also am trying to uninstall webroot from my mac airbook and don't know what you mean by the 'menu bar' so I can follow your listed actions for turning off the program in order to remove it.  If you mean the dock, that option doesn't appear when I right or left click on the icon.

Do you have Webroot icon in your upper right hand corner of your desktop? Are you able to right click to open Webroot and click shutdown? Then follow my instructions below or go here http://www5.nohold.net/Webroot/ukp.aspx?pid=12&app=vw&vw=1&login=1&json=1&solutionid=1992&

If you still can't uninstall Webroot then I'd advise that you issue a Support Ticket and they will sort this out for you. I've uninstal Webroot in safe mode before but I wou recommend this if you are not familiar with your Mac. Here's the link for Support

We don't mean the Dock which is usually located at the bottom of your screen. You want the menu bar in right hand corner.

I am sorry that you all are having a hard time with uninstalling Webroot.  Unfortunatly I cannot give out the uninstall terminal commands online as this would be a huge security issue.  However,  Please feel free to call us or setup a support ticket.  If anyone has any other questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Not to mention a mistyped "sudo" and waive bye-bye to the wrong kernal extension!  ;)  (says the voice of inexperience! 😛 )

I was writing a program for us to use at work and mistyped one... everything on my Desktop was deleted including the program I was writing lol.  Luckily I had a Time Machine backup or i would have been really upset.
 

......and I did say NOT to mention it! 😛  pmsl.....   it happens to the best (or in my case the worst! ) 😛

Here's my technique in removing webroot on my mac.
 
1: Open your finder Navigate to Application Folder.
2: Locate your webroot software, right click on it, select get info, you need to scroll down locate Sharing and permision make sure that everything is in " read and write permission after that try to delete the software you can used (Command+Delete) on your mac keyboard or you can just right click then move to trash.
3:If it works, Press (alt"option ") keys on mac keyboard location application support Remove any traces of webroot.
4: Then Navigate to your Macintosh HD( your internal hard drive) go to Library/Extensions removed webrootsecureanywhere.kext.
5: Empty your Trash then restart your mac.
 
 

that method is going to leave behind parts of the software.  Please do not remove webroot in this manner.  There are a lot of files that are located on the machine not in the application folder and the application support folder.  If you are having trouble removing WSA then please contact our support team as we have the correct method and commands to remove all of the program.

Read first and last pages could not see anything helpful MikeR's responce was a little patronising it Mike you regergitated the information on Webroots helps page, that said IT support is usually stating the obviouse to us users whoi have done something stupid :-D
 
~snip Sudo commands are bad at best with common users and not recommend, it's best to contact Webroot Support snip~
 
apples solution worked to uninstall for me and I too had tryed draging to trash and and appZapping.  I really should have read that email from you guys saying upgrade before updating MacOS
