cygwin and gcc really slow with webroot av

Hi-

I use redhat cygwin for package management and gcc to ./configure make make install. I switched to linux guest in virtualbox guest the other day to do similar tasks and I couldn't believe how fast it was. I thought I just had a slow computer but apparently the AV goes into fits with cygwin and gcc. To put a pseudo benchmark for you to rebase in cygwin takes 15 minutes even to install one package!

I thought I could temporarily deactivate webroot and then activate windows defender but I have to uninstall webroot just to activate windows defender again.

Please advise if you know of any tricks or have any useful suggestions.

Thx. - J. McNamara

Hello @,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

My advice would be to Submit a Support Ticket and they can investigate this issue. Which is free of charge with an active Webroot Subscription.

Please look here at this Knowledge Base article: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Antivirus/How-to-Run-WSA-alongside-Windows-Defender-on-Windows-8-Windows-8/ta-p/23058

Hi there!

May I add that Webroot Support usually answers with 24-48 hrs. And all Support may need do is whitelist the files? But they will certainly check your system out.

Your most welcome as well. 😉
