My system is partitioned , using windows 7 pro and windows XP. Web root is installed on the windows 7 side of the computer. When web root does its scan does it scan both the windows 7 side and the windows XP side?

Welcome to the Webroot Community.
Webroot will only scan the drive that it is installed on.
I would advise installing it on the Windows XP partition as well if you use that regularly to browse the internet.
