I continue to receive messages to download Windows 10 for free & I continue to get messages that "Power Shell has stopped working. Are these messages real ? I seem to have obtained a virus with an ad to purchase a new computer for half the price and have downloaded a virus. A Trojan

Hello @,

It sounds like you may have an infection on your machine causing this issue.

I would advise contacting our support team so they can take a take a look at this for you. They can remote right into the computer, identify a threat if there is one, and remove it for you.

Windows 10 has not yet been released, but there is a program offer that came with one of the overnight updates. Qualified users can register for a free upgrade to Windows 10. It will be downloaded automatically when Windows 10 is released.
It is not a scam. It is real.

Hi KentWarren

Just to qualify what James has said...the 'Powershell has stopped working' error and pop-ups can be caused by/can be a sign that you have been infected by malware called Poweliks.

GIven that this is a possibility I would strongly recomend that you Open a Support Ticket and get the Support Team to check your system out in case the signs are correct, and you have not taken James advice yet.  They should be able to assist you in terms of removing the malware from your system, assuming that it is present.  This service is free of charge to all WSA users with a current/activite subscription.

Hope that helps?

Regards, Baldrick

Hi Baldrick,
I don't have a malware problem. I did a deepscan and re-installed a clean copy of WRSA and all is well.

Thanks.

Hi KentWarren

Glad to hear that...as I said the Poweshell-related message can signify a malware infestation...but it does not ncessarily mean that there is one.  But thought it best to mention this just incase.
