Will Webroot SecureAnywhere Anti-virus play well with Emsisoft Internet Security?

I've been running Emisoft's OnlineArmor (Firewall) with Webroot for many years without any significant issues.  Now, Emisoft is dropping OA and replacing it with Emsisoft Internet Security which includes an anti-virus.  (I don't want their anti-virus but I do want a firewall such as OA.

Webroot, when first released, stated it would work with other anti-virus packages.  Of course, forum responses about using other antivirus packages is to uninstall the other.

Along with my surfing habits I "FEEL" safer running Webroot antivirus, OA firewall, and Sandboxie.  Not comfortable with webroot + Windows firewall or with Emisoft anti-virus.  Of course, I ran without security for all but about 2 years after installing DSL from 1980 through 2007/2008 without issues.  Since then I've been running with Webroot (or it's predecessor) and OA.  It is no longer safe out there anymore.

OOPS... I forgot that I ran ZoneAlarm firewall for a while but changed to OA before ALL my hair was gone.  Used ESET NOD 32 for a while; forget why I stopped using it.  Oh, and I don't use the free stuff.  (Heck, I even donate to used free/share ware.)

Ssherjj gave the answer on thread:  https:///t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Antivirus/Windows-Firewall/td-p/191507 way back in March 2015.

  •  The Webroot SecureAnywhere firewall and software is compatible with any other antivirus or firewall application, so you should have no problem running our software alongside your other antivirus/firewall. While it is possible for another antivirus or firewall application to interfere with WSA, no part of Webroot should interfere with other firewalls as WSA is built to recognize and co-exist with other legitimate antivirus/firewall applications.
So it appears there will be no issues.

Thank you.

Hello @,

So sorry this must of gotten through the cracks without us seeing this. I just want to let you know if you have any issues you can always submit a Support Ticket and they will glady help with any issues if they arise.

Edit From my research WebrootSecureAnywhere is compatible with Emsisoft Internet Security.

Hi ExpertNovice

Just to back up what Sherry has advised there should be no issues with EIS....from what I have read in other forums from people who use both that would seem to be the case.

Of course, you may not want the hit of having 2 sets of interactive protection running so in that case, if you can (and I think that you can) why not turn that off in EIS and keep the antivirus element as a 2nd opinion/on demand scanner...it never hurts to have a back up as nothing, not even WSA, is 100% foolproof (close but not quite there yet...;))?

Regards, Baldrick

Sherry,

I assumed all y'all were partying hard!

Thanks for the confirmation specifically about EIS.

Godspeed,
Jim

Baldrick,

Thanks for the response, comment, and suggeston.  I may end up doing that, especially on the older computer.  I might try leaving them all running on this system just to see what happens.  I would go back to ZA but that firewall became like Black Ice many years ago in that every update Ihad to stave off the urge to throw the computerout a window under the wheels of a cement truck.

Godspeed,
Jim

i have found WSA to get along pretty good with EIS.At the outset i set up exceptions in the File Guard >manage whitelist for WSA.Have not had an issue here.Web browsing is pretty snappy, but not as snappy as running WSA with windows firewall. The only thing i've seen with EIS and it was there for me before i added WSA back in was that if you mess around in the registry, regedit is sluggish finding and searching for entries.Must be how EIS locks down the registry. The EIS firewall isn't really OA at all. It's been completely rewritten.I like the combo quite a bit.I,however,do not use sandboxie so i dont know how that combo works if you choose to use sandboxie.

Thanks for the info, suggestions, and what to look for.  Not sure if you noticed but I don't want EIS but do want OA.  Unfortunately it is not my option.

BTW, based on a question by tech support it appears that Webshield will no longer work within Sandboxie beyond Windows 7.  Specifically they state, "This process prevents the DLL injection necessary to provide search annotations within supported browsers".  That might be true but it works in Windows 7 Pro SP1 but not 8.1.  Since Win 10 is built on Win 8 it is not likely to begin working.
