does the error 405 happen when I've caught a virus? What is it, and can I fix it without purchasing another program?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
As far as I am aware this error, and I am assuming that you are referring to "405 Method Not Allowed"...please see these MS Support thread (and another here) for more details, does not specifically indicate that you have caught a virus.
If you are concerned and need help then I would recommed that you Open a Support Ticket and let the Webroot Support Team look into this for you just in case there is some link...hopefully they can reassure you in that matter.
