When using Facebook and clicking on some news articles, I get a 'vIRIS' warning. Does thiss mean my current version  of Webroot is corrupt??  Thanks Don

Hello there, welcome back.

You can try to do a 'clean install' of WSA if you want, but I think you will find that it will not make a difference.  The problem probably lies in the news article links you are clicking on Facebook.  Many times, articles on Facebook are from questionable sources.  Indeed I have seen many cases in which a 'news article' is posted from a website that is meant to APPEAR legit, but it isn't.  For example, I have seen URL's like  abcnews  dot com dot co     That is meant to appear to be a legit abcnews.com, but that extra .co at the end shows it probably is NOT the real site.

Take a very close look at the links and make sure they are pointing to legit sites before you click.  If you are postive that the link should be safe, then you may submit a Trouble Ticket asking Support to take a look at it and review the link.  Make sure to address it as being "Attention BrightCloud Team".

I hope this helps!

NO....This was every single aticle, I concede that a few could be virus threats but not the excessive number I get. I'ts a Webroot problem in my view.

Hi zigpig

I would go with the uninstall/cenn install recommended by David, just to try to make sure that it is not WSA.  If that does not resolve the issue for you then pleae open the Support Ticket as also suggested so that the Support Team can take a look for you.

This level of potential FPs is now very rare with WSA (cannot remember the last time it happened for me) and therefore it could be something in the way you are accessing the sites, that is outside of your control, that only they will be able to determine.

Regards, Solly

As David said above, be absolutely sure that they are the legitimate URLs before clicking.

Were any shortened URLs  by chance, as they are widely used, often to disguise malicious links.

Always check before you click. It has to be done, for safety.
