fakesecsen or spy sheriff virus

My cable internet provider sent me an e-mail this morning telling me that a computer behind my cable modem was infected with the fakesecsen spy sheriff virus and had connected with a command and control server affiliated with that virus.  Does webroot protect against this?  I have 4 computers and the 3 newer ones have webroot on them and get scanned regularly.  The fourth computer that doesn't have webroot is an old windows XP computer that rarely gets used, it has no personal info on it. If webroot scans are clean on the 3 newer computers that get used, I am safe, right?  Should I just disk purge the older computer and disconnect it from the internet completely? thank you.

    Welcome tio the Community Forum,
     
    Are you sure that this was /is a legitmate email?
     
    Because these are names used by Rogue (Fake) Antivirus programs. Webroot SecureAnywhere does protect against Rogue Antivirus apps.

      It looked very much like a legitimate e-mail from Cox cable, and they also sent the email to my cox.net e-mail also.  If I scan my computers with webroot, and the scan comes up clean, then I am ok right?

        You are most welcome! If Webroot saids you are clean then you shoud be all set. But if you have any dioubts then you can always Submit a Support Ticket which is free of charge and they wiill gladly check your systems out.;)
         
        Have you called Cox and asked?
