Help please! Can't open programs (kkq-vx) error codes - Scanning doesn't work

Sounds to me that the Steam application would be best re-installed, if you want to use it, and there are help topics here:   https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1274-UOHK-5653
 
The error appears unrelated to the Webroot software, unless you suspect otherwise, in which case let us know. Hope this helps.
 
P.S. Regarding the programs that will not work now, it is probable that they may have been affected by the uninstalls you did, and may also need repair or reinstall. If you want to ask any questions, let us know with the details. Thanks.

Question: Is WSA able to scan fully to the end of a scan?  If so, continue on.
 
Well, I have done a little reading on Steam.  Evidently it is a game platform of some sort? When did this problem begin?  Have you been able to use Steam and WSA together up until today?
 
To check if it is a WSA related issue, you might try to shut down protection, and then re-launch the application(s).  If they open without a problem, it is WSA related and we will go from there.  
 
If they still fail to open, restart WSA and then click on the gear tool next to PC Security and then the Quarantine tab.  Check the Quarantine to see if any of the Steam files have been quarantined.  If so, here is the problem.  Let us know this and we will go from there.
 
If with WSA off, AND no files have been quarantined Steam applications still will not launch and provide that error, you might try re-intalling Steam or contacting Support for that software.

Its not just steam. I cant open Revit, Sketchup, Photoshop, and etc. Sometimes It's the kkq-vx error code, and sometimes It's just the plain "Program not working" The only programs currently working are Chrome, WSA
 
I've looked up another Antivirus's threat encyclopedia and this is what I get when I search for kkq-vx

Maybe WSA does not have it yet in the database maybe?

It is possible....  If you think it is the result of a virus, please submit a Trouble Ticket and have Webroot Support take a look at it.  This is a free service as long as you have a valid Webroot license.

Ok, I sent the message to trouble support. If that's the trouble ticket you meant. Hope to get this fixed ASAP.  I can't get anything to work, program wise.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
 
Perhaps a silly question, but how long have you had WSA installed, and if recent how long since then has this issue started happening?  ALso, have you by any chance attempted to clean install WSA, i.e., perform an uninstall WSA, REBOOT, perform an install without importing any settings if offered and then another REBOOT?
 
If not then may be an idea to try...just in case.

I've had it for about 6 months now I believe.
And no, I haven't done that yet?
The threat started today.. 

Even MS Paint would close down on me after 1 min.
It doesn't show the kkq-vx error code; it just says program stopped working instead.

So Autodesk Revit / Photoshop / Paint / Sketchup stops working everytime I open them.

I also rebooted my computer and logged in other profiles. Same problem.

Well, if you have had WSA up and running for a while and the issue has just started happening unless your installation of WSA has been corrupted somehow then I do not think a reinstall would work and the advice from Dermaot & David are probbaly the more likely right approach.  But having said that an uninstall/reinstall won't hurt and will not take too long to do.  If you do then make sure that you have a copy of your keycode to hand and download/use a fresh copy of the installer (Webroot from here / Best Buy from here), if so minded.

I am not sure we can give a good answer to that one.
 
IF there is a virus that ends up being relatively easy for Support to remove, that might be easier
 
but
 
IF the wait for Support is long tonight (We never know what a response time will be here on the Community), AND you have nothing to lose AND all your programs are fully backed up on the Restore point, that might be easier.
 
Sort of a 6 of one and half-a-dozen of the other question for us.  You might need to just balance all of that on your own 🙂

It might be a memory problem perhaps?
