How can i make a call on these files by the way webroot names them

I've had webroot not even a week and I've already had to uninstal and reinstall it because of problems. My complaint is this, I have in my quarentine  two files one named dyzv6tb+.exe part and the other serjv6qn.exe.part? One was put in quarentine when i was off line and the other I downloaded a fake file to see what the threat log said, hoping it would give me any information on the file. It did not. These names are generic, gibberish. How do i know if these are valid or a false positive? Also webroot is blocking these two files xoe6mlle.exe.part and 14cb.tmp. No one seems to think this is a big deal on this forum because I went back nine pages and didn't see the topic. All the antiviruses that I've used say this file is malware or acts like malware, is a trogan or acts like a trogan. And I could google the names and get more information. I can't with webroot because these are generic names. How can I make a call on a file? How does anyone make a call on files with generic names? Input please from the season veterans as to how to handle these generic files. I'm not saying all these files are a false positive or I should unblock, I'm saying webroot gives no zero information to work with.I'm not happy about this at all , and I'm not emailing tech support when I don't know what a file is. This is all on the makers of the product. Webroot. So the more input the better. THANKS

Ok now I know how this forum works. I was looking for feed back as to how people who have had webroot deal with these types of files. I guess if the moderators and form users don't like the question then they don't answer it. A forum should be for answers and feed back but i guess this is not like that. I might post again but it has to be a topic that I really think can be answered and i'm missing something or I"ll use support. By the way I looked and there are other users who didn't get answers? Some are foolish questions but other should have been answered. DONE OUT. Badges, not.

Hello ?,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

Well you sure got my attention.

Sorry for the delay. We are all volunteers here and we try to do our best and we all haven't 24 hours of the day to reply to all. Sometimes OPs are missed or are waiting for a response. We try to answer all whenever we can.

I don't know about generic gibberish as you call it. But our support team is the best to information for these files. If you want to know more about a file in Qurantine you can look here at the PC User Guide and please go here for more information.

You can always submit a file to Support for I cannot tell you if these files are a false positive. Your best bet I would say is to submit a Support Ticket even though you say you don't want to without knowing what a file is? Which is free of charge with an active subscription.

May I ping ? and he can give you more information then I can.

Hope I answered some of your questions? If not I am sure our other Forum members can help here.

Best Regards,

Hello and Welcome to the Webroot Community!

dyzv6tb+.exe part is something WSA removes it could be an Infection or a PUA so I wouldn't worry about the names Webroot gives to them. See here about PUA's: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Techie-KB/How-to-Remove-Potentially-Unwanted-Applications/ta-p/40744 and lets see if ? or someone else can give more info on this.

Thanks,

Daniel 😉

Nothing tells me is the files suspicious or not? I've used malware products that do that but never a antivirus. I will look and look for a answer before I post, and way before I email tech support. Now maybe alot of users just let the items stay where they are. I like to know what file is blocked  and what files are in quarentine. Maybe to you I'm making a bigger deal over this but It bothers me that i have to get tech support involved and can't look for answers on my own. yes i knew that one of them was a part file. Am i going to uninstall webroot? NO It's the first paid product that I had to buy since 2008.  I bought the number one spyware product  ranked first by almost all sites and it was junk. So I swore I wouldn't pay again. I felt tied to it because I paid for it. If it's freeware you uninsall it and find another one, but if you pay for it i feel tied to it. However I have a slow computer and I need as small a drain on my system so my web browsers don't slow down. I tried three free products and I hated them so i bought webroot.  I was using Ariva 2012 old version and support was running, out. Look thanks for atleast trying to help it means alot. By the way i have OCD and ADD so if i something gets me going I sometimes can't stop it unitill i get a answer.

? You can look and see what it was if you Save a Scan log and near the Bottom of the list it will tell you! Also Save a Threat log works just as well! http://www.webroot.com/En_US/SecureAnywhere/PC/WSA_PC_Help.htm#C11_ReportsandViewers/CH11a_SavingScanLog.htm even if you look on your Online Console it will say: http://live.webrootanywhere.com/content/674/Viewing-PC-scan-information

Thanks,

Daniel ;)

I always do. I'll get used to it. Webroot is new and because of my OCD everything that i see that bothers me is major, but as i have it longer, only had it nine days i'll be able to back off and fight my urges MUCH THANKS TO ALL. I know that i can come off  alittle arrogant. I"ve had Ariva antivirus since 2008 so it's new and again thanks. Also don't ever think a antivirus is great just by the ratings. it may block zero malware in a teast ans be a nightmare to own and use.

Well I have to say Webroot is the Best, 4 to 6MB of Disc space the program is only 804kb in size and uses 4 to 6MB of RAM and the best thing all the work is done in the Cloud and not on your PC http://www.brightcloud.com/platform/webroot-intelligence-network.php and see here a test done by Passmark: http://passmark.com/ftp/Webroot_SecureAnywhere_vs_antivirus_competitors_Edition_1.pdf

Thanks,

Daniel ;)

What i wanted to say but my poor spelling messed it  i look at user reviews because who cares what the tests say or how a person rates a antivirus, it's on their computer for a hour. If it's a nightmare to use why do I want it. Second i go to the forums. I liked Bitdefender free untill i went to the forum and found that bitdefender was quarentining good files and those files go to it's server. People couldn't get pictures, papers, files that were not in anyway pose a threat back .Because the tool to bring them back wasn't working and tech support was cluelessI totally took a pass. Do your home work before you fall in love with a antivirus. I did look at this fourm and it seemed peacefull.

? Yes it is peaceful and there is nothing like WSA it's the future and it's here now! Most of us are Volunteers and that should tell you how we feel about WSA as a Security Program. Also Webroot Support is second to none, at times you get a reply within minutes and most times in a few hours and the most I've seen is 12 hours. We are a great bunch of people and so is the Webroot Staff and I can call them Friends so come by and chat with us no pressure!

Cheers,

Daniel 😃
