How can I safely erase a cd or dvd disc?
I wish to reuse a disc (DVD+R) that was used to save files and don't know how to safely erase it completely so that I can re-format it and use again. Thanks for your help.

You can't remove data or rewrite on DVD-R or DVD+R they would have to be DVD-RW or DVD+RW the same with CD's they must be CD-RW disc. See here to learn more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD%2BRW
