How do I 'take things out of the permanently erased' place?

I was erasing some stuff I didn't need when I accidentally permanently erased an item I need. I tried re-installing the program, but it wouldn't work. Is there any way I can get it back? certainly doesn't show up in Quarantine.

The extent to which "permanently erased" means just that will depend on the settings that you have set for the Secure Erase feature...please see this page of the context help for more information on where to look to check what that is and what the settings avaialble mean.

If you have the setting as 'Normal' then whilst you will not be able to go to the Recycle Bin to look for and find your data you may be able to recover it by using one of the many (some free)  file recovery utilities that are available (can suggest some if you PM me)...but even that is not guaranteed.

If on any other setting then you will definitive have no chance of recovery...as that is the point of the feature.

Hope that helps to explain the position?
