How often should we scan the computer?

Hi all, will the frequency of scanning my laptop on OS boot up impact the lifespan of my SSD and spinning HDD? Since most AV programs scans on background and keeps tab on system health, why would we want manual scanning? Thanks!

Hi rifthunter

Welcome to the Community Forums.

That is a moot point but WSA does have the feature to allow you to set up a daily scan of yor system and I believe that this is more than adequate given that WSA's forte is the detection of active malware or malware that is trying to activate and that is done as and when it happenes ratehr than waiting for a scan to take place.

Manual scanning is really a backup up to the real time protection provided and so once a day is in my opinion quite sufficent.

When you run a program or install one WRSA will check it automatically so i did leave WRSA's daily check on its standard value. No need for me to change that.
