I am not sure if I have a virus or not but if I happen to have one, should I back up my computer ?
Would I be putting it on my hard drive, if I have one?

Why do you say you have a virus? Does Webroot say you have a threat?
Well be sure your important data is backed up. Then you scan your backup with Webroot because yes a backup could contain a virus if it isn't caught, But before backing up just scan your computer and then back it up.
