I don't believe I have seen any updates since being installed 6 months ago. Are there no updates
Where are security updates or are they downloaded automatically without my knowledge ?

Please do a manual update by clicking on the gear next to My Account, click on the tab "About Secure Anywhere" or
you can right click on the WSA notification tray icon and select 'Check for Update' from the context menu displayed.
then click on check for software updates. Also here's a User Guide Information you may want to look at.
Webroot updates automatically from the Cloud! One more thing the version of Webroot is 8.04.123
