I had a popup today saying Webroot wanted permission to make changes to my computer, and I granted it assuming there was just an upgrade of some sort. Then later when I was on Amazon, the computer started freezing up momentarily, then both TVs froze (I have Comcast). I called Comcast, and as the tech was sending signals to TEST the TV, I noticed the computer had pretty much frozen too, so I restarted my computer. When it restarted, the TVs came back on. I thanked the Comcast tech and she said she didn't do anything, that whatever I did fixed the problem. I never lost Internet connection.
I'm fearful someone got into my computer and used so much bandwidth that it froze everything. Or perhaps they were doing something else that made everything freeze. So, first, a couple questions:
1.) Have hackers spoofed Webroot popups like that before?
2.) How worried should I be?
