my webroot scan picked up several malware programs and eliminated them but this big box came up on my desktop saying my personal files are encrypted  with ctb locker and it gives multi step instructions to remove the virus but I don't want to do something that's going to harm my computer. I wouldn't think this could happen as long as webroot  isolated and removed the virus. I have logged off, shut down and logged back on and the message is still on my desktop, I can't get rid of it

Hi Himey1960,

Sorry you are experiencing this issue. Please look at this video on What Happens if Webroot Misses a Virus

@ states here from the Forum:

"OK, well, the first thing is not to attempt to reboot you system as I understand it is that each time one does that the malware will copy itself to a new name under the %Temp% folder and then create a new task scheduler job to launch it on login.  So rebooting just increase the amount of work required to remove the infection components".

Then one of our Forum members had this to say about CTB Locker https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Complete/Can-CTB-Locker-virus-infect-a-thumbdrive/m-p/206065#M12597

Sorry this has happened to you and I hope you have a backup or image of your drive or backup of your files and folders. Do look in your email for Webroot Support. ok? Usually they are pretty quick to respond.

Good Luck and let us know how things turned out for you if you get a chance.
