I want to uninstall webroot. It says I must do it via web console. But I try to log onto the console and it says I don't have a license. It is scanning daily and I want to change that.

Hello tp,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

I'm not sure if you are asking to deactivate your Webroot from your PC or to uninstall.

Here is how to Deactivate a PC and to uninstall Webroot you can uninstall from Programs/Webroot/Tools or look here below:

To uninstall Webroot SecureAnywhere:
1. Follow the correct steps for your Operating System. Windows XP:
2. Click Start, then click Run. In the Run window, type "appwiz.cpl" (without quotes), then press Enter on your keyboard.
Windows Vista/Windows 7:

• Click Start, or the Windows icon. In the Search field, type "appwiz.cpl" (without quotes), then press Enter on your keyboard.
Windows 8:

• Move your cursor to the bottom right of the screen to open the Charm Bar menu. Click Search, then type "appwiz.cpl" (without quotes), and press Enter on your keyboard.

• This will open your Control Panel to the list of all programs currently installed on your computer.

• Scroll down the programs list until you see the Webroot security product.

• Click the Webroot security product entry once to select it, then click Uninstall/Remove.

• When asked if you are sure you want to uninstall, click Yes to continue.

• If prompted with a CAPTCHA, enter the requested characters and click Enter.

Webroot removes itself from your computer.
Then if you are wanting to change your Webroot scanning please look here at the PC User Guide

Now if you are having issue with a license then you can also submit a Support Ticket free of charge with an active subscription and they will gladly help you out.

Hope this helps,

Kind Regards,

Hello - the issue is that the Webroot application does not show in my control panel.  I want to remove it.  I also deleted the shortcut from the desktop now so can't access it that way :(

Hello tp,

Please follow this information below,

In some cases, uninstall options for SecureAnywhere may be missing from the Control Panel or Start menu.  If you want to uninstall SecureAnywhere and are unable to do so because of these missing options, here are some steps you can try:

Option 1: Ensure correct display settings
1. Open Webroot SecureAnywhere.
2. Click Settings, then choose Basic Configuration.
3. Un-check the boxes next to Show Webroot in the Start Menu and Show Webroot in Add/Remove Programs.
4. Click Save All. After saving your settings, repeat steps 1 and 2, then re-check the boxes next to Show Webroot in the Start Menu and Show Webroot in Add/Remove Programs.  Then click Save All again.
5. Once you have re-checked the correct options, try uninstalling Webroot from the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs option, or from Start > All Programs > Webroot SecureAnywhere > Tools > Uninstall Webroot.
Option 2: If the method above does not work, you can run an uninstall command manually.  Choose the correct instructions for your operating system.

For Windows XP:
1. Click Start, then click Run. The Run box opens.
2. Type the following into the Run box, exactly as it appears below.  Note: This path is for the default location.  If you installed the program elsewhere, be sure to modify the path accordingly. "C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall
3. Click OK.
4. When prompted to uninstall, click Yes.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7 (32bit):
1. Open the Start menu by clicking the Start icon .
2. Type the following into the Start Search bar, exactly as it appears below.  Note: This path is for the default location. If you installed the program elsewhere, be sure to modify the path accordingly. "C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall
3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
4. When prompted to uninstall, click Yes.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7 (64bit):
1. Open the Start menu by clicking the Start icon .
2. Type the following into the Start Search bar, exactly as it appears below.  Note: This path is for the default location. If you installed the program elsewhere, be sure to modify the path accordingly. "C:Program Files (x86)WebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall
3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
4. When prompted to uninstall, click Yes.
For Windows 8:
1. Move your cursor to the bottom right of the screen to open the Charm Bar menu.
2. Click Search, then type the following into the Start Search bar, exactly as it appears below. Note: This path is for the default location. If you installed the program elsewhere, be sure to modify the path accordingly. "C:Program FilesWebrootWRSA.exe" –uninstall
3. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.
4. When prompted to uninstall, click Yes.
If you still cannot uninstall then please submit a Support Ticket free of charge with an active subscription.

So sorry to bug you again.  I tried the manual command with no luck.  When I go to Advanced Settings I get the following message - SecureAnywhere is currently managed by the Web Console and all changes need to be applied centrally. Please refer ti the SecureAnywhere doucmentation for further inforrmation"  Does this provide any hints?
