Identity Protection is making my keyboard slow

Identity Protection is making my keyboard slow and not always handling spaces&capitalization correctly.  Sometimes when typing and putting a space after a word, the next word is adjacent to the word typed with no space.  Sometimes the word isn't capitalized (when shifted for that) or the first 2 letters are capitalized when it should only be the first letter.  When Identity Protection is turned off, the problem goes away.

Hi alexf1

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I have to say that I have never heard of a keyboard specifically being affected by the WSA Identity Protection Shiled before...it is generally apps that one is using the keyboard with that are the issue.

Exactly what are you typing into when this happens; a browser, a text application, an email client?

We've experienced this typing into gmail and yahoo emails.  I don't recall if ever experienced in a word document.  This started about 3 weeks ago when we installed Webroot Antivirus.

Hi alexf1

Please click on the gear/cog symbol to the right of the Identity Protection tab in the main app panel, and then click on the Application Protection tab, then look down the list of of apps under the 'Application' heading, for the one (or more) that relates to the browser (or browsers) that you are using.

When you find the appropriate one(s) please make sure that the entry for it/them is set to 'Protect', and see if that helps to resolve the issue.  If that does not then change the setting(s) to 'Allow' and again see if that changes anything/alleviates the issue.

If that does not help then what I would do is to undertake an unistall/clean reinstalla of WSA as follows:

  • Make sure you have a copy of your Keycode
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and do not import any settings if so offered by the installer, as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboo tonce again
If this ALSO fails to resolve the problem, you may need to contact Support for assistance.

If your subscription is directly through Webroot, you will need to contact Webroot Support.  You can do so by submitting a Support Ticket if you have not already done so, or by phone during business hours.  (The online Ticketing system is manned 24/7)

If your subscription is through Best Buy Subscription Software services, you may need to call them at 1-800-GEEK-SQUAD.

I hope that helps? Let us know how you get on.

Regards, Baldrick
