Is it wise to turn off webroot antivirus to upgrade from windows 8 to windows 8.1? What's the risk?

I'm Matt running Windows 8 and wanting to upgrade to 8.1. Windows support advises to swirch off your antivirus as it might interfere withe the upgrade. Is it safe to do so and what is the risk?

    I'm not an expert on this but in my view you should be OK if you turn off WR whilst Windows is upgrading. I expect that whilst you are downloading 8.1 you will have WR running normally. Then you can, if you wish, disconnect from the internet, turn off WR and install the new version.  That was you will remain safe from any threats.
