Hello and Welcome to the Webroot Community!

Yes WSA keeps and eye on External Hard Drives and USB Drive's as it has many Shields such as the USB & Realtime Shields: http://www.webroot.com/En_US/SecureAnywhere/PC/WSA_PC_Help.htm#C3_Shielding/CH3a_WhatShieldsDo.htm plus all the work is done on the large WIN Cloud and not no your PC: http://www.brightcloud.com/platform/webroot-intelligence-network.php it can even rollback missed infections please see this short video to learn more: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-Education/What-Happens-if-Webroot-quot-Misses-quot-a-Virus/ta-p/10202 if you have any other questions feel free to ask! Also WSA works on XP to Win 8 and 8.1 I'm even running it on the Win 10 Preview even though it's not Officially support by Webroot.

Thanks,

Daniel 😉

Hi, I had this message on my screen the other day, a large white box with a red triangle with ! point in center and a number tocall microsoft.  I called the number and the person got on my computer and then told me my warranty had run out and he would get rid of 2  virused on my computer.  I had already run a webroot scan and everything was fine.  He then said he woiuld get rid of the virused and then gave me some info that sounded fishy.  Then he wanted $300.00 and I just shut my computer off to get rid of him.  Did this outfit put this message on my laptop as a scam?  Just checking.

Yep, that is a scam - don't give them any money or let them have access to your computer!

I agree with Nic it's a Scam but can you tell us was the notice in the Browser or on your Desktop? If if was from your Desktop I would suggest that you Submit a Support Ticket so they can look at your logs to make sure your Malware free. And if it was from a Browser may I ask which one? A good Ad Blocker could help here and this one you can install on all Browsers Adblock Plus: https://adblockplus.org/

Thanks,
