True and it depends on the Malware and the MD5 you supplied is Adware and seen on 2 PC’s.

Also from VirusTotal: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/c0f0a9f245b2b2b4fa6d79f310ec810789b71ce10fa80e583833b094d66b3ca8 undetected by many!

Hi @durantash

It’ all depends, type, spreading, others infected and how easy is it to get that infection. I have never been infected by accident but I have infected my systems myself during the XP days but I don’t care for testing malware anymore and I’m super safe surfer.

Can you post the MD5 Hash of the said malware? Or ask Webroot Malware Support Directly! Webroot Customer Service

Hi @TripleHelix

Thank you answer.

a person sent a malware file for me.

i scanned near 10 time with my webroot.

after 1 hour submit file at link ( SNUP Webroot ) ( show file is on 2 PCs )

then i wait for near 2 hours. and again scan with my webroot. but do not detected it.

then i send MD5 for webroot support. and after near 3 hours detected it.

MD5 : c80b3822ac387e344cd3530d767ee8cd

i think Webroot intelligent Network ( WIN ) automatically analyze files ?!

Thanks

Hello,

This file is simply Unclassified in our db. It does not appear to be malicious, so it has not been classified as Bad. This is not a file that would need whitelisting, so it remains Unclassified.

Files are automatically analyzed but that initial analysis does not always result in an automatic classification. The time it takes to analyze and detect a file varies due to many different factors, so @TripleHelix was correct when saying “It all depends.”
