Hi Everyone,

I am very worried as all my files were either missing or removed after i uninstalled Webroot on my Mac. Even my desktop was changed to a system defaulted one. It is very worrying me as all the files are related to my work.

Are there any possible solutions to retreive all the files?

Hello amodiddy,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

Sorry to hear this but I don't believe Webroot was the cause of you loosing your files from simply uninstalling the software.

Have you checked the trash or checked in the "Finder" that is in the genious bar and looked in "All my Files"? Or looked in the iCloud where Documents/Files might be stored. Do you have "Time Machine" backing up your documents and files?

Also your Webroot AV version that you have posted in does not have a Backup & Sync.  Only WSA Complete has this. Because you would have a backup there to save files and what not.

I will also ping ? to see if he has heard of this happening while uninstalling Webroot. He is our Mac Threat Researcher.

Hopefully we can resolve this as I said I can't imagine loosing your files after an uninstall. I have uninstalled Webroot numerous times on my Mac Yosemite and have yet to loose any files.

Contacting the Webroot Support Team might be able to clarify what I have noted. They can check this out for you.

Kind Regards,

Hi, Sherry,

Thank you for your swift and helpful response. I found that my laptop was restored to factory settings , the only folder remains the same is My Applications. Would this be related to Webroot for safety purpose?

Hi ?

I am not sure what you are saying. If your computer was restored to factory settings tthen I am afraid you might of lost your files in the restore. Webroot does not cause any of this. So no this isn't Webroot related . Sorry to say.

Hello Anmodiddy,
There is not a way for Webroot to do this on the Mac system, There is only about 8 files that gets removed upon uninstalling us.  I would suggest contacting our support team so they can run a log report and maybe find out what really happened for you.
