Hi MikeB1,

Welcome to the Webroot Communitty,

I have found from my research that this a SCAM.

The "error 895-system32.exe failure error" is related to a scam. Unsolicited phone calls and browser pop-up alerts with phone numbers from "so-called Support Techs" advising your computer is infected with malware has become an increasing common and prolific scam tactic over the past several years.
This is done as a scare tactic to goad you into calling a phony tech support phone number shown in the pop-up alert and allowing the scammer remote control access to your computer in order to fix the problem. In some cases you are instructed to download malicious software which will actually infect your system.

If the scam involves a phone call, the caller may claim to be an employee affiliated with Microsoft or Windows Support. However, there have been reports of callers claiming to be affiliated with major computer manufacturers such as Hewlett Packard, Lenovo and Dell or familiar security vendors like Symantec and McAfee.

Microsoft does not make unsolicited phone calls or send unsolicited email messages to request personal or financial information or to fix your computer.

Also add a good free Ad Blocker like the ones suggested below:

For Internet Explorer Ad Block Plus: https://adblockplus.org/

For Firefox uBlock: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/?src=ss or Privacy Badger: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/privacy-badger-firefox/

Google Chrome uBlock: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ublock-origin/cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm?hl=en or Privacy Badger: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/privacy-badger/pkehgijcmpdhfbdbbnkijodmdjhbjlgp

Thanks,

Thanks for the leads, Sherry.  Since I'm using Microsoft Edge that eliminates the first option.  But I'll keep looking.
