I have a new computer and the cd for webroot.  How do I get it on the computer.  Is it necessary to first get rid of Mcvee?

Hello bertapauley,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

Please follow the steps closely! You do not need the disc..

  • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
  • KEEP the computer online for the install to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot

Removing or keeping McAfee is a matter of choice/preferance.  WSA is designed to run just fine even with other AV solutions install.. it is unique that way.

That being said, I woud  Remove the McAfee.  McAfee is a huge resource hog on the computer.. it can slow you down.

If you do decide to remove McAfee, please make sure you use the McAfee removal tool instead of the 'uninstaller' that might be found on your computer or in the Control Panel.  McAfee is known to leave remnants, and the uninstaller does not always remove things correctly.  If you need a link to the McAfee removal utility.. https://community.webroot.com/t5/Techie/Software-Removal-Tools/m-p/27608#M455

Hope this helps?

Get rid of that weird sounding AV as it's a resource hog and is not good. You will be suprised by the performance increase once you run WSA.
