My Isp says it has to be a problem with my computer and/or anti virus software.

    ?   what version of windows are you running? If it ain't Windows 10 year click on Windows + R and look for this location ====>

    When you are there look for a file called "windowsupdate.log"  Maybe you can get those entries from the last day  so we can have a look at it...  If that file's contents are chinese to you i'm willing to have a look at it and see if it means a thing to me.
    About your mail accournt i 'm not sure. Would be a coïncidence but right now i'm not certain. Have you tried to gain access to that mail account from another pc and does that one work? Have you tried to temporarely ( read just for the test & not longer ) disable your protection and then try to access the mail? Make sure to ASAP reactivate your protection after the test and don't do anything else while the protection is disabled.
