There's no need to uninstall McAfee as Webroot works nice with other Antivirus products.
On the other hand there's also no necessity to use more than one Antivirus and Webroot alone will offer you a great protection. Also you won't notice the low hardware impact when McAfee is installed.
If you look at your task bar and see the green Webroot icon then you can be sure that it's working correctly.
