my mac won't let me empty trash due to webroot is active. How can I temporarily de-activate it?

I have a Mac but I'm not at my Computer right now.
 
I believe you can shut down Webroot from the top Finders bar on the right hand side and right click on Webroot to shut down. Maybe @ could assit here because I'm not 100% sure if this will work or not. I've never had an issue with emptying the trash. 
 
Part 1: Turn off Webroot SecureAnywhere

1. Click the Webroot icon [img]http://sw.nohold.net/Webroot/Images/wsa_icon.png[/img] in the menu bar, then select Shut Down SecureAnywhere from the drop-down menu.  
2. A prompt confirming whether you want to shut down appears. Click Shut Down. [img]http://sw.nohold.net/Webroot/Images/macshutdownwsaconfirm.png[/img]  

To restart Webroot SecureAnywhere, in Finder click on Applications, then click on Webroot SecureAnywhere. 

Let us know if you still have problems and then we can search for alternative measures.

Sherry is correct on how to shut it down, if you are still having issues please let me know the exact message that is coming up and any threats that it is currently showing.

That's interesting.  I have an iMac and Webroot has never interfered with emptying trash.  Under Advanced Settings, do you have "empty trash" checked?  Just a thought.

Hello Jan,
In some cases, Webroot will detect a threat in the trash and be waiting for you to remove or not which can cause a hang up in emptying the trash.  This is a rare case, as I havent seen it often but I have seen it.  If this is what is happening then i would like to look at it to see where the hang up is causing.

Hey, never had that problem, so it never wandered through my brain that I might have a threat in my trash. It's good to learn something new every day. 😉 "Melturley" was the poster who had the trash problem on his iMac. I am glad to know if this occurs that I will check my trash to see what I threw away. Tnx!
