Hi mword

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The basic answer is ...NO.  Updates of the client application take place automatically.  In the case of malware definitions/signatures (whatever one wants to call them) as these are held in the Webroot Cloud and the analysis is done there there are no signature updates to schedule as one would have/be dependant on with more traditional security apps.

Hopefully the diagram below will assist with the explanation above:

But if you have any follow up questions then please post back.

No worries, mword...WSA is quite different to a lot of the other security apps (although a number are starting to copy it's features) and sometimes there is a need to ask...that is what the Community is here for.

So ask away if you need to.

Hi mword

Since WSA does not constatnly have to download threat updates onto your PC, I'm sure you will find that it works more smoothly than before with your prevoius AV.

There are lots of helpful tips in this community and it's always useful to check out the online help guide which is very impressive. http://www.webroot.com/En_US/SecureAnywhere/PC/WSA_PC_Help.htm#OpeningPage.htm

You have made a good choice
