Old version of Webroot has started popping up

I've recently started seeing a reference to Webroot Antivirus with Spysweeper ver. 7.0.1.22 (from which I upgraded years ago). I upgraded to Webroot SecureAnywhere ver. 9.0.1.35, which also runs at startup. How can I clean up the system?

Hello and welcome to the Community!

Please check to see that the old version is not listed in the Programs area of the Control Panel and available to be removed.  You might also try to do a clean re-install of WSA and see if that will help as well.

Please follow the steps closely!

  • Make sure you have a copy of your 20 Character Alphanumeric Keycode! Example: SA69-AAAA-A783-DE78-XXXX
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and don't import any settings if asked to as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
Please let us know if that resolves your issue?

Hi mahantnh

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You may also want to try running the 'Webroot Legacy Programs Remover 2011 & Earlier' tool that can be downlaoded from here. This is designed to assist with the uninstallation/removal of pre WSA versions of Webroot software, and running may well find something that has been left over for days gone by.

I have run it a number of times with WSA installed, and it does not appear to cause any issue with the current software (perhaps someone more in the know than me can confirm that officially) but if concerned you could follow David's advice, uninstall WSA, run the aforementioned tool and then do a clean reinstall of WSA as per David's instructions.

Hope that further assists?

Regards, Baldrick
