I changed from Norton to Webroot, but still get messages from Norton that my computer is not protected against threats, the most recent stating that my online banking is at risk because of a new virus. I need to know that my banking is safe.

You need not worry if you have SecureAnywhere installed, and Norton is just 'nagging' you to restore it.
It most likely hasn't uninstalled completely, and you may like to run the Norton Removal Tool
