I tried to install Skype and was 9% successful.  Then Webroot decided it was a threat and stopped installation.
Please help.

Also, how does this "community" work will you send the solution to my email address?

Just another comment.  I use the computer purely for recreation.  I wish people in this industry would work to make their sites simpler to access.  The proliferation of passwords etc.  is annoying.

Hi JanetKap

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The first thing that I would do is look to redownload the Skype installer making sure that you have downloaded from the author's website (which in this case is to be found here). The reason for this is that if downloaded from elsewhere, i.e., a 3rd party site, it is possible that additional 'items' have been bundled with the main Skype installer and this is what WSA is detecting/responding to.

Try that , and see if this time the installation occurs & completes correctly.  By the way unless you definitive want to install the MSN toolbar and/or set Bing as your default search engine then I would uncheck the tick boxes that offer these to you when running the installer.

Post back here to let us know what happens this time...I have to say that I have run WSA for a long time, and never had an issue either installing Skype or subsequantly updating it...so I am very intrested by your experience.

As to "how does this "community" work will you send the solution to my email address", to read this post from me you should have received an email notification that a response to your question or to the thread you have started, has been made and then you clcik on the link in the email to return to the Community and review that and/or any other comments/post made since you last review the thread?

In terms of simpler site access, the proliferation of passwords etc., being 'annoying'; I sympathise but it is difficult to get a good balance betwee easier access for the person(s) who should be accessing the sites and those that one does not, especially in the case of personal data,/information, etc.

If I may ask; exactly where are you having the issue/accessing what site, as perhaps we can help with that too?.

I hope something in the above is of assistance? Please post back with an update on your position re. Skype and/or any other questions that you may have.

Regards, Baldrick
