WSA does provide excellent protection against Ransomeware, but keep in mind that new variants are constantly being released in an attempt to stay ahead of software like WSA.
 
In some situations where it has gotten past, Webroot Support has been able to help by way of the rollback, etc.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
 
I am afraid that we cannot say or divulge much about how WSA works to protect against/deafet ransomware as to do that would play straight into the hand of the miscreants who generate/produce these nasty pieces of malware.
 
As Sherry has said, WSA to proect from ransomware but nothing is 100% and that therefore we would always advocate a layered defense with WSA at its heart.

It only discusses the general Webroot protection mechanisms at a very low, unexploitable level.  
 
Take note that the Enterprise version is discussed, but - rest assured -  the protections for Webroot's consumer products are essentially the same - because Webroot does NOT cheat home users out of the core protections of their flagship Enterprise solutions - like some other vendors.

Would be happy to share my thoughts but as that would be specific and would include non Webroot products I cannot do so in open forum. Please provate message me if interested and I will be pleased to elaborate.
 
In a non specific way, with WRSA as the principle layer of defense I would suggest that an on demand scanner (of a reputabe nature) run periodically would be useful, and if you are particulalry concerned by exploits then a dedicated anti exploit app could figure in your layers.
