Scan Issue

It has taken about 3 days to finish a scan and it's not complete yet. Is this normal or is there something else I need to do?

Hi tmatysik

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Whilst the default scan of a system should on average take no more than 3 or 4 minutes at best it is possible for it to take longer but 3 days is really unheard of unless you are (custom) scanning everything on your system, and even then it must be a pretty big system for that to happen.

Therefore I would suspect that you may have a faulty installation to WSA...and so to check that out I would recommend that you uninstall/clean reinstall WSA. If you would like to do that then please follow these instructions carefully:

  • Make sure you have a copy of your Keycode
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and DO NOT, if offered by the installer, import any settings as you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
And now trying repeating the scan that you did that took so long.

If the reinstall fails to resolve the problem, you may need to contact Support for assistance.

If your subscription is directly through Webroot, you will need to contact Webroot Support.  You can do so by submitting a Support Ticket if you have not already done so, or by phone during business hours.  (The online Ticketing system is manned 24/7)

If your subscription is through Best Buy Subscription Software services, you may need to call them at 1-800-GEEK-SQUAD.

Hope that helps? Do let us know how things go.

Regards, Baldrick

Hi tmatysik

No worries...as I said...let us know the result and if the issue remains then please advise as to exactly what scan you are running, what the parameters are if it is a custom scan, and then also some basic information about your system such as OS, RAM, disk space...used & free, as this might give us some further information to work with in terms of seeing if we can provide a solution or more guidance.
