I took my laptop to Best Buy for service and they recommended I drop McAfee and install Webroot, which I did.  The next time I needed service they said I had five virus' deep inside my laptop that Webroot didn't catch. They cleared the virus' on my laptop, but now I'm concerned if should I have kept McAfee?

Hello sgoodrum,

Welcome to the Webroot Community,

Mcafee  I think uses alot of resources and takes over your PC. McAfee tends to slow computers down more than most other AV solutions.

Please look here What Happens if Webroot misses a virus https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Antivirus/What-Happens-if-Webroot-quot-Misses-quot-a-Virus/ta-p/33374

Webroot does all this and more.

  • Detects and blocks known and unknown viruses and threats
  • "Ridiculously fast scans" keep you protected without interruptions or slowdowns
  • Real-time anti-phishing blocks fake websites that trick you into entering personal information and threat shields warn you of potentially infected websites before you visit.
If I may start with the WIN Cloud http://www.brightcloud.com/platform/webroot-intelligence-network.php as all the work is done on there and not your PC also WSA only uses 3 to 6MB of RAM and up to 6 MB's on the Hard Drive for the Client and this is the future and it's here now, how can the other conventional AV's keep up with almost 500,000 new Malware everyday and over 142 million Malware in 2014 alone.

And it's great at protecting your online Credentials so Shopping and Banking online is no worry!

I suspect that you had some bad PUAS and Webroot gets rid of most but not all. Also Webroot has free support as long as you have a subscription and no AV has that.

I hope this answers your concerns,

Kind Regards,
