Hello
The choice is yours. Webroot SecureAnywhere can either replace or work alongside your
existing antivirus software.
Webroot SecureAnywhere is fully compatible with other mainstream antivirus products and
will work alongside any existing antivirus software to detect and remove any threats it
misses, and to protect your financial and personal information.
You will not be asked to uninstall your existing antivirus when installing Webroot
SecureAnywhere.

I advise you to uninstall Kaspersky

Hi millcliff

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As an ex KIS user (used KIS from v6 all the way up to versions a couple of years ago) with 3 years when I ran both together I can advise that they play well together (but just to make sure if you decide to keep both for a while just to compare, make sure that you place WSA components are Trusted and/or Exclsuions under KIS and that KIS componnets are set to 'Allow' under the 'Block/Allow' feature in WSA).

I would also draw your atention to the fact that whilst WSA & KIS largely overlap in terms of feature and tyherefore cover they do not in all areas...so before you decide anythiing do check out th at you are happy with the perhaps more minimilist approach from WSA.

Take your time...but hopefully in the end yo will come to the same decision as me and ditch KIS.

hi baldrick. i am new to webroot and trying it out instead of kaspersky, so i'm curious as to the areas you mention in which they differ. i'm hoping for similar coverage so want to be sure i'm not missing anything i really need. i had KIS and now i have WSA. also, i found my way to this thread when trying to find out if i needed to uninstall my KIS when installing WSA. i'm not using both, like you addressed in your answer; KIS would just be sitting there on my computer, with my expired subscription. but i'm hesitant to remove it in case i decide to go back next year. would love your thoughts on any pros and cons involved in doing so. thanks so much!

Hello ?, welcome to the Community!

REMOVE IT.  Sorry to be blunt LOL, but there is no benefit at all in allowing it to remain on the computer.   Chances are it is still actually silently taking up RAM, and certainly drive space for no benefit.  Also, remember that by the time next year arrives, chances are that Kaspersky will have a 'new version' out that will require you to uninstall the old version anyway.

WSA, by the way, works a bit differently in that any time there is a new feature or improvement, we get it right away as soon as it is ready.  Webroot no longer holds back saving new features just to have an artificial new product rollout: we get the new features as soon as they are ready and stable.  That means we NEVER have to uninstall or install a new version.

Hi mianyc

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would actually, for once disagree with David,...and it is rare that we disagree. If KIS is sitting there and not running causing an issue, then given that you are hesitant about removing it then I would leave it where it is...at least for the time being, just in case you would like to go back to it at some point within the next year.

This for 3 reasons; one, KIS can be difficult to remove and then one has to run the removal tool to try to make sure it removes completely; two, reinstalling it can be a palaver if it decides not to play nicely with your system and I believe that it will insist that you remove WSA before you can reinstall it; three, I ran in that 'mode', i.e., closed down/not running, for a good 6 months and as far as I could see if it did use any RAM or resources it was minimal to say the least.

In terms of what WSA does not do that KIS does (i) anti spam functionality, (ii) parental controls, (iii) specific web cam protection functionality, etc. not game changers but certainly if yo are used to them and cannot live without them then you need to consider things carefully.

As I said, I did and I came down on the side of WSA, and so ditched KIS...but each to their own.

I hope that these thoughts are of assistance?
