Subscription renewal message

I was waiting for my next paycheck and my sub expired a a day or two before I renewed it. When it expired I got a red pop-up informing me of this when I started my computer.  I have since renewed, entered the keycode, and under My Account, it now says I have 363 days left on my sub, but I'm still getting the red pop-up saying it's expired. How do I make it stop?

Hi ChrisG78

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would just like to clarify what exactly was your renewal because you say that ou have "entered the keycode". ormally when a true renewal is done, i.e., you add time to your exisitng subscription there is no need to enter a keycode as one is extending the current one so I am supposing that you have actually done a 'pseudo' renewal, as I call it, where you have purchased a new copy of WSA and with that you received a new keycode which you have entered/activated, etc? Is that correct?

If so then most likely the warning message is about your previous keycode which is still showing in the system as expired and hence why you are gettingt he warnings. If that is the case then the only thing that you can do to try to stop this is to Open a Support Ticket to advise the Support Team of your situation and ask then to delete/cancel the previous keycode.

But this of course assumes that I am correct re. the method of renewal,a nd that you are not a user of the Best Buy version (different renewal process) so I await your confirmation or not to my suppostion.

Hi Baldrick, thanks for trying to help.

I did originally buy Webroot at a Best Buy, but it was just a box.  I installed it and activated itself.  Last year I re-upped online before it expired, and did not have this problem.  This year I clicked on something (I don't remember exactly what it said) in the software itself to renew.  It took me to the we browser where I selected the plan, the amout of time, and I paid.

I got an email entitled "Your Product Receipt and Next Steps" which contained a reciept and a product key.  I went back into the software and entered that product key. Should I not have done that?

Hi ChrisG87

Thanks for the reply.

I have to admit that whether you should or should not have clicked as you did is a moot point...the fact that you entered a new product key code this renewal is what I think has caused the issue; as I said before I believe that the message/warning is being by the now expired previous subscription/keycode, and to get this fixed I would suggest that you contact The Geek Squad about how you get the previous keycode cancelled, etc.

You can contact them as follows:

Hello there, sorry I am so late getting here!

Best Buy Renewals are ONLY for 1 year at a time.  If you were given any other option, then your new will not be a Best Buy Key Code.  It will be a standard WSA Key Code.

I believe you will find, if you call Geek Squad, that they have not charged you for the renewal.  If I am correct in this, please let me know, but I think you will need to either uninstall the Best Buy version and install the standard version, OR if you want to keep support from Geek Squad to seek a refund from Webroot and purchase a new subscription from Best Buy.

I most definitely did not purchase my renewal at all (this year or last) via Best Buy. They've never had anything to do with my computer. I've done my renewal, both last year and this year directly from Webroot's website.  I'll just submit a support ticket, thanks.
