I received an update and okayed it.  But now I keep getting a message via my computer that both Webroot and Windows Defender are off!  I pull up Webroot, and it says it is on and running!  I also keep getting a request to update to Webroot toolbar, which I don't want to run.  What is going on?  Please?  Help?

Hi CB1

Welcome to the Community Forums.

This does happen occassionally and is due to Windows not 'catching up' with the AV/IS solutions installed. If Windows detects another AV/IS solution installed it disables Windows Defender but in this case it looks like it has forgotten to 'register' that WSA is installed. But as yo uhave noted WSA is indeed enabled, despite what WIndows says, so yo are perfectly protected as you are. :D

To nudge Windows in the right direction I would recommend that you carry out an unistall/clean install, as follows:

  • Make sure you have a copy of your Keycode
  • KEEP the computer online for Uninstall and Reinstall to make sure it works correctly
  • Download a Copy Here (Best Buy Subscription PC users click HERE)
  • Uninstall WSA and Reboot
  • Install with the new installer, enter your Keycode and do NOT import any settings; you can set it up as you like once it's done
  • Let it finish it's install scan
  • Reboot once again
If this fails to resolve the problem, you may need to contact Support for assistance.

If your subscription is directly through Webroot, you will need to contact Webroot Support.  You can do so by submitting a Support Ticket if you have not already done so, or by phone during business hours.  (The online Ticketing system is manned 24/7)

If your subscription is through Best Buy Subscription Software services, you may need to call them at 1-800-GEEK-SQUAD.
