I downloaded a new key code and it was a success, however it is still showing that my subscription has expired.
Do I need to wait a day for this to change?

Welcome to the Community Forums.
When you say that you have downloaded a new key code, can I check that you have gone into WSA, entered the new keycode and activated it? If not then please follow the pointers in the screenshots below to do so.
If you have done so already then it can be that it is taking time for the back office systems to synchronise, and to try to give them a jump start you could try running a Scan of your system...that sometimes gives things a 'nudge'...but it is not unusal for a slight delay in the new subscription or indeed renewal registering at the client end.
