Verify integrity of the operating system

I tried researching this feature but was unable to find any information outside of what is contained in the help section:
"Checks the operating system for problems."

Could someone fill me in on what exactly is being verified here and how thorough this is?

Thanks in advance!

Hi nxte

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I very good and interesting question which I suspect that you will not get a direct answer to as if the details in the online help are vague then that suggests that exactly what is checked for what is a secret so as not to provide malware writers with guidance of where WSA may not be looking specifically.

All I can add to the help text is to say that as far as I am aware the check covers all the major areas that many be vulnerable (or as other security vendors call then 'security vulnerablities') but as to what they are all I can only guess at.  One that I would expect to be covered would be whether your system is up to date on updates, etc.

Just wondering if someone like ? or ? might be able to provide some guidance on this...without revealing too many secrets...;)

Baldrick,
Thanks for replying. I assumed some of this is "secret" and for good reason too.  I work in a critical industry and wanted to include more detailed information in a risk assessment. As it currently stands, the information provided is too vague.

Would it be possible to have an offline discussion? I do not need to get into low level nuts & bolts, but something a bit more concrete would be nice.

I can verify employer and that we are a customer if necessary.

Hi nxte

No worries.

We here are in the main volunteers and not connected with Webroot as such. And it sounds to me like you need to hook up with some of the professionals over at Webroot re. what yo are looking for.

Perhaps our most Excellent Community  Manager, he who knows all...;)...might be able to advise as to whether there are any offical avenues for this sort of thing...as I cannot believe that you or your company are the only ones who would do this sort of thing.

Regards, Baldrick
