Webroot Filtering Extension very slow today

I've been a user of Webroot for a couple of years now.  Usually no issues.  This morning, any website I try to visit is very slow, the only message I see (I use Chrome) is "connecting to Webroot Filtering Extension".  I've tried restarting my computer, same result.  The only way I can go to internet sites is by turning off Webroot Filtering.

Anyone else having this problem?

Hi Rhonda728

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Yes, there have been reports of this today here in the Community and also I have experienced this sporadically today...but not all of the time.

Best thing to do is to Open a Support Ticket to let the Support Team know of this.

Turning off the extension, if that works for yo as a temporary measure is fine and will not overly affect the protection provided by WSA.

I should have mentioned, even with the Webroot Filtering Extension turned off, I can't submit a Support isse.  It never resolves after I enter my email address.  When I say "never", I mean I waited 15 minutes before giving up on that.

Hi Rhonda728

OK, do you have access to another browser such as IE11 (Windows prior to 10) or Edge (Windows 10).  Just as a check I have tried to access the Support Ticketing system via Chrome and it seems to be working OK here.

But having said that I am running the beta version of WSA and so that may have a 'fixed' version of the extension (which may be good news in the long term as it suggests that a fix is in the offing).

The other thing that you could try is to reboot your system, and then first thing that you do once back in is to try to submit the ticket.

I'm just going to give this a day or two.  In answer, I've already rebooted my system.  I don't have IE11, so that isn't an option for me.  I know my anti-virus protection is still active, and I have a regular group of websites I visit, so not really worried, since my protection is there.  I do use another utility, in addition to Webroot, that helps protect me from issues.  For today, I'll simply turn it back on once in awhile to see if it's working correctly.

Thanks very much for the response!

Hi Rhonda

If you are running Windows 10 then you will still have accexx to IE11...it is just a little hard to find find Microsoft has 'buried' it. If it is of interest then let me know and I can let you know how to 'rediscover' it.

Thanks for that info. :womanhappy: I don't use Windows 10, so that's not an issue.  I use Windows 7 and have simply uninstalled IE 11 for a variety of reasons.  I do have FoxFire and have attempted to submit a support ticket.  Same issue, that I'm having with Chrome, so I have doubts it's a browser issue for me.  I'm a Techie as my employment, so my Sundays are usually not spent troubleshooting!  I do appreciate you checking in reguarly and assisting users with this product.  You state you are using the BETA version of the latest Webroot, Kudos to you for being a tester!

Hi Rhonda

As I have just posted in another thread on the same subject...what is very strange is that from my observations today in terms of my web access using Chrome, the issue seems to be sporadic in nature, even when accessing the same website repeatedly...sometimes there appears to be no issue and then all of a suddent everything seems to slow...and then a few minutes later...no issue.

Almost as if the issue is server side rather than client side...but as I am no expert that may just be my perception and have no basis in fact.

GIven the traffic on this issue and hopefully the number of Support Tickets being raised, Webroot Support will be getting the messasge and can look to investigate. ;)

Re. the beta; there is a rolling private beta program in place which is by invitation only.  I do not think that it is open to new member at present but if and when you are interested in a bit of a 'busman's holiday' you can apply to Nic, our Community Manager, to join and see what he says.

Hi Rhonda

We have just heard from one of the Webroot Staff that they are indeed having backend or serverside issues today...they are working on it and hope to have it sorted by the end of the day.
