Ok here is a question for our members/or Webroot staff.

1. Webroot is cloud based, which I understand, now when you do a scan it scans the processess on ones pc.
2. What if......................a pieces of malware gets thru to ones pc, Webroot does not scan the hard drive, which this malware can do damage, as we know no AV can detect 100% also...

3.A piece of malware does get thru and lays dorment on your HD it would not be detected as Webroot does not scan the HD for malware?? Than this malware is time sensitive and executed.
4. Your HD is at risk as there is no option to scan for malware/virur's that may get thru the defenses.

Conclusion: The HD needs to be scanned IMHO

Hello ? and I'm sure Daniel or others will be best able to answer your questions, but a review of this resource may bring some insights: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-Education/What-Happens-if-Webroot-quot-Misses-quot-a-Virus/ta-p/10202

What I gather is that even if an accepted malware is lying dormant as you describe, then it may be disregarded until it should become active, in which case WSA will detect and remove.
I also know that WSA's Web Shield does a wonderful job of preventing browser intrusion, and the overwhelming majority of infections are picked up through the browser (please correct me if that's inaccurate).

And in the 'Proof of the Pudding Test', there just doesn't seem to be many users of WSA becoming easily infected.

You also have the option to run a Full Scan of your system, but that is not seen to be necessary usually.

Also, from https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-SecureAnywhere-Complete/The-difference-between-a-deep-scan-and-a-full-scan/ta-p/6476

"A deep scan specifically targets only things that are running, and that definitely or probably will run.  The remainder of the system is considered inert, since the contents are not active or poised to be active.  This remainder is evaluated if and when it becomes active or primes to become active, via on-access scans, process interdiction, etc.  This portion of the protection is handled by realtime shields.

If a threat was "missed" because it was not part of the targeted area, it isn't going to run anyway, and it does nothing when just sitting as bits on media.  In the event the threat is read or attempts to execute machine code, it's scanned at that time and caught at that time."
